Friday: Bakery Ride Extension  7:30 am start : (2018 MDBF Part 1 of the Back 2 Back Century Challenge!)  A great ride  that shows you the best of Lake County.  Start out to a little German bakery in Yalaha south and then come back through historic Mount Dora to head north to see 43 more miles of beautiful rolling hills and lakes that have been added to make this a scenic century ride. Friday: Lake Dora Loop 8:15 am start : A terrific warm up for the weekend. This year we will go south out of Mount Dora and re-enter town via beautiful Lakeshore Drive near the end of the route. There are a couple of miles on Sadler Road where there is no shoulder, so please be careful and ride single file. The speed limit for cars is 55mph. You will find a set of RRX at mile 8.8 so use extreme caution; they are on a bad angle and you will need to go into the middle of your lane to cross safely. Once you get past this part of the route, you will find a nice shoulder to tuck into and enjoy the rest of the ride. After the rest stop you will cross Hwy 19 (wait on the green light please) and into what the locals call the Little Pyrenees for some fun rolling hills. Saturday: Countryside Century  7:30 am start : (This is Part 2 of the Back 2 Back Century Challenge.) A relatively flat route will help you get finished quickl. You will ride through the Ocala National Forest with nice scenery along the way. Some roads have speed limits of 55mph so be cautious. On this route you will go through southern Volusia County, by De Leon Springs and to the banks of the St. Johns River. Saturday: Three Bobs Ride 8:00 am start : This ride is an all-time favorite route from years gone by that was brought back in 2014. It is sure to please based on the scenery and rolling hills. You will go by pastures, lakes and orange groves and even pay Thrill Hill a visit! Don’t worry – you will get to go down the steep side and up the short side. Either way, it will be a thrill. Saturday: Thrill Hill 8:15 am start : Yet another all-time favorite route, this ride offers not only nice scenery but a thrilling descent down the famously steep Thrill Hill! Check your gearing carefully because as fast as you go down, you will be hit hard with a steep (short) climb back up. Sunday: Battle Of Buckhill Returns This is an all-time favorite! 7:30 am start : On this route you will have many nice roads with wide shoulders, yet some with narrow or none. You will hit Buckhill Road, Scrub Jay, Grassy Lake and the back of Sugarloaf Mountain where our good friend Harry Fenstad will host a Rest Stop for you. Sunday: Assault On Sugarloaf 8:00 am start : Yet another all-time favorite, the Assault on Sugarloaf beckons you to make the trek up the west side of Florida’s favorite mountain. Be sure to pay Harry Fenstad a visit as you pass by the Rest Stop on his property before enjoying the delightful descent on the south side of the mountain. Follow the white circles (no more X inside) through Ferndale and back to the Wall, where your climbing skills will once again be tested. Sunday: Photo Scavenger Hunt 8:15 am start : This fun, social ride was added in 2015 and was the favorite of many who wanted a relaxing and playful ride. Along this 19-mile route, you will be given the opportunity to follow clue sheets of certain photo scenes to find and shoot. Share with your friends on social media or just do your own thing. The route is generally flat and has some nice, quiet roads to take you off the main roads for a bit. Use caution on Sadler Road and Hwy 448E (miles 5-8.5 and 11-13) as you will be sharing the road with vehicles going 45+.
